Study on the action of a nutritional supplement that focuses on joint pain produced by osteoarthritis or joint aging in a population who regularly performs low-intensity exercise.

The sociomedical implications were analyzed in a population aged over 65.

In order to evaluate the possible benefit of the nutritional supplement in this aged population, a naturally occurring hydrolyzed collagen compound enriched with magnesium and vitamin B complex, which acts on joint pain and helps play sports, was administered to 20 volunteers for 16 weeks.

The results of this study showed that test compound, which was well accepted and safe, improved the subjective and objective response to mobility and pain relief in 84.2% of subjects.

More specifically, the results obtained, show the action of test compound inducing a gradual and statistically significant decrease in the number of patients with strong and moderate pain, which became slight along the study duration.

Rigidity on starting movement decreased considerably in moderate or severe rigidity groups in respect to assessment at baseline. Groups show a significant amelioration of symptoms at week 4, 8, 12 and 16. At week 4 clinical improvement was already observed in 36.8% of patients and then reached up to 84.2% at week 16.

All the patients reported that the performance of their sports / recreational activity was much easier, especially because of a decrease of joint rigidity and mobility pain.

No side-effects were observed to the patients during or after the study.

(4) J. Ll. Ribas, O. Molinero (1998)

Study on the effect of a nutritional supplement with gelatin hydrolysates that focuses on the prevention of sport injury.

The action of the nutritional supplement containing gelatine hydrolysate was assessed on articular cartilage thickness in sportsmen and sportswomen.

The administration of a daily dose of gelatine hydrolysate (10 g) enriched with vitamin B complex and magnesium for 6 months significantly increased the articular cartilage thickness of scapulohumeral joint and femorotibial joint. A 14% average increase was observed in treated patients.

In the control group, after the 6-month length of the study, not only there was any increase in articular cartilage thickness 16% but also a significant 13% decrease of cartilage biometrical values.

These results indicated that the long-term dosing of a gelatine hydrolysate enriched with vitamin B complex and magnesium to sportsmen and sportswomen may be useful in the prevention of joint injury.

More specifically, M. Adam (1991) reported that the oral administration of gelatine preparations improved the symptoms in 52 patients suffering from joint degeneration of hip and knee, while, Trentham et al (1993) observed a decrease in the number of painful joints in 60 patients with severe rheumatoid arthritis after oral administration of Type II collagen for three months. Additionally, Arquer and Pujol (1996) reported that in 20 patients, whose physical activity was limited to pain on movement, the administration for 16 weeks of a dietary supplementation containing highly purified gelatine hydrolysates produced a gradual and statistically significant decrease in the number of patients with strong and moderate pain together with reduction of rigidity on starting movement.

What is collagen?

Collagen is a key component of the basic structures of the human body and the connective tissue. It is an abundant protein of the body, accounting for about 30% of total body protein and 75% of the protein that makes up skin. As a result, collagen is the main constituent of our skin.

Collagen plays a leading role in all body functions since it is responsible for:

  • The outer body (skin and hair)
  • The flexibility & mobility of the body’s structural components (cartilages & joints)
  • The smooth functioning of internal organs
  • The maintenance of good form for blood vessels and bone density

What is the recommended daily dose and when should I intake Collagen Pro-active?

A measuring cup per day diluted in a glass of water or juice, is recommended, preferably before evening sleep. Shake well before each use. Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct light and below 25°C.

Most people respond positively to the product even before consuming the first bottle, that is about a month or soon after the beginning of the second month of product use and results in such a few days are amazing.

However, not all individuals have the same results at the same time period since there are many factors that affect the health of the skin such as genes, lifestyle, diet, extensive sun exposure, smoking, etc.

In order to get best results it is recommended to continuously use Collagen Pro-Active for at least 8 to 12 weeks.

How does Collagen Pro-Active work?

The enzymes in our stomach breaks the hydrolyzed collagen down into smaller peptides and free amino acids which are then easily absorbed in the small intestine before passing through the small intestine walls to reach the blood stream supplying the dermis & the body. Then, they activate the fibroblast cells to make new collagen.

Why is Collagen Pro-Active superior to an average anti-wrinkle cream?

Collagen Pro-active stimulates the cells responsible for the body’s own natural production of collagen. It works in the deeper layer of the skin (dermis) and all over the body, whereas creams are more localized in one area on the outer layer of the skin (epidermis).

Why is Collagen Pro-Active only available in a drinkable form?

Aside from being easier to swallow, a liquid is readily absorbed as soon as it enters the stomach. Each daily dose of Collagen Pro-Active contains 10,000 mg of hydrolyzed collagen, which is at least 50 times more efficient and effective than a common collagen pill.

What is the effect of Collagen Pro-Active on cosmetic dermatology procedures?

Collagen Pro-Active is not invasive and therefore acts complementary. As a dietary supplement, Collagen Pro-Active is noninvasive way to improve skin’s appearance with excellent results.

Are there clinical trials that describe the way the product works?

What happens if I stop the use of Collagen Pro-Active?

Research studies show that the level of collagen slowly reverts back to its original level when the Collagen Pro-active treatment started. When you stop using Collagen Pro-Active, the results you see will not disappear overnight, but the organism will continue its natural processes. Therefore, it is recommended to maintain at least a 3-month use with 1 month wash out.

How can Collagen Pro-Active improve joints’ pain?

Collagen Pro-Active is an essential nutrient for the joints. Collagen is the main nutrient of the connective tissue and is essential for the maintenance of the joints, bones and muscles. It works as a constructive material, giving them shape, strength and flexibility.

Research advocates that increasing the natural levels of collagen in the body with 10gr of collagen per day (a daily dose of liquid drinkable Collagen Pro-Active) gives an end to arthritic problems and problems associated with the joints. Collagen Pro-Active contributes to decrease joint rigidity and mobility pain & to increase the articular cartilage thickness of joints.
